XFX announces Radeon AI PRO R9700 availability through system builders

The Radeon AI PRO R9700 won´t reach DIY buyers, as XFX confirms exclusive distribution through professional system builders for advanced Artificial Intelligence and visualization needs.

XFX has confirmed that the AMD Radeon AI PRO R9700 graphics card will be exclusively distributed through system builders, rather than being sold in the do-it-yourself retail market. This marks a strategic distribution choice, ensuring that the card is targeted at professional environments by limiting its availability to large OEM workstation manufacturers and specialized system integrators. XFX´s own model, which maintains the visual and physical characteristics of the AMD reference design, is listed as ´coming soon to select system builders´ on the company´s website.

This distribution approach is in line with AMD´s direction for the Radeon AI PRO R9700, where all add-in board partners produce units tailored primarily for high-end workstation applications. These cards adhere to a uniform design that emphasizes usability in dense, professional compute environments. Features include a 2-slot lateral airflow cooling configuration, 12V-2×6 power connectors located at the rear, and specially engineered air intakes and backplates. Such elements are crafted to enable installations of up to four Radeon AI PRO R9700 units side by side, maintaining sufficient airflow essential for demanding computational workloads.

The Radeon AI PRO R9700 itself is a derivative of AMD´s Radeon RX 9070 XT gaming GPU but repurposed for professional tasks. With a substantial 32 GB memory configuration, it is poised to serve users involved in domains ranging from edge-based Artificial Intelligence acceleration to complex professional visualization. By anchoring this GPU as an OEM-exclusive product, AMD and its partners like XFX seek to address specific needs of workstation users who rely on dedicated system integrators for both hardware and optimized deployment, rather than individual, consumer-driven installations.
