Synopsys and Broadcom achieve PCIe 6.x interoperability milestone

Synopsys and Broadcom have demonstrated seamless PCIe 6.x integration, paving the way for powerful and scalable Artificial Intelligence data center solutions.

Synopsys has announced a significant technological milestone in collaboration with Broadcom: full interoperability between Synopsys´ PCIe 6.x IP solution and Broadcom´s PEX90000 series switch. PCIe switches are foundational for scaling next-generation Artificial Intelligence infrastructures, making this achievement highly relevant to companies building advanced high-performance computing systems. Both firms targeted seamless integration to mitigate design risks and hasten the delivery of new products for demanding data center workloads.

The interoperability demonstration highlights a Synopsys PCIe 6.x IP solution, comprising both PHY and controller elements, successfully acting as a root complex and endpoint at a data transfer rate of 64 GT/s when paired with Broadcom’s PEX90000 switch. This establishment of full PCIe 6.x operability at such speeds is crucial for the rapid scaling and reliable performance required by Artificial Intelligence training and inference platforms in enterprise environments.

Synopsys plans to showcase this collaborative achievement at the PCI-SIG DevCon 2025, scheduled for June 11 and 12, offering attendees a firsthand look at PCIe 6.x and even PCIe 7.0 interoperability at booth 13. The demonstration aims to reinforce confidence in next-generation PCI Express solutions, assuring data center architects that future products leveraging Synopsys and Broadcom IP will integrate smoothly and offer robust performance for Artificial Intelligence and high-performance computing markets.
