PTC Unveils Onshape AI Advisor and Government Editions to Boost CAD Innovation

PTC expands its cloud-native Onshape platform with Artificial Intelligence-powered design assistant and a compliance-ready government edition.

PTC has announced two significant enhancements to its Onshape platform, introducing Onshape AI Advisor and Onshape Government to address productivity and regulatory requirements in computer-aided design (CAD) and product data management (PDM). Onshape AI Advisor brings generative Artificial Intelligence-driven assistance to CAD users, providing expert guidance and workflow suggestions designed to streamline product design, optimize practices, and help teams transition from legacy systems. Built on Amazon Bedrock, this intelligent tool enables engineers and designers to improve efficiency and collaborate more effectively within the Onshape platform.

Simultaneously, PTC has launched Onshape Government, a specialized version of its cloud-native solution specifically tailored to meet the stringent compliance needs of United States government agencies and defense contractors. Hosted on AWS GovCloud (US), Onshape Government supports critical regulations such as the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Export Administration Regulations (EAR), facilitating secure, collaborative, and version-controlled design processes for regulated projects. Both new offerings reaffirm PTC´s commitment to making advanced CAD and PDM accessible and secure for organizations in highly regulated industries.

In addition to these launches, Onshape´s rapid development cycle continues to introduce new features, including CAM Studio, Render Studio, PCB Studio, Onshape Simulation, and enhanced modeling capabilities. The platform is also popular in the education sector, with over 1.5 million annual sign-ups, and is used by leading companies like Trek Bikes, Garmin, BOA, K2, Garrett Motion, and AURA AERO. Headquartered in Boston and supporting more than 30,000 customers worldwide, PTC emphasizes digital transformation and operational efficiency for manufacturers and product companies through innovative cloud-based tools.
