Parspec raises Series A to accelerate artificial intelligence-driven construction procurement

Parspec secures Series A funding to streamline the construction industry´s procurement process using artificial intelligence, accelerating its reach among top distributors.

Parspec, a construction technology company based in San Mateo, is making significant strides in transforming the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) product supply chain through artificial intelligence-powered solutions. The company has secured a new Series A investment round led by Threshold Ventures, building on its previously raised capital, though specific financial figures were not disclosed. This latest round brings Parspec´s total reported funding to just over a prior unspecified milestone, signaling strong investor confidence in its innovative approach amid a challenging funding environment for construction technology startups.

Parspec´s platform leverages workflow automation and machine learning to help sales agents and wholesale distributors identify and supply products that meet complex project specifications. By parsing unstructured construction documents and sourcing specification data from over 4,000 manufacturer websites, the company enables users to cut the time and cost of bidding in half while improving bid quality and compliance. According to CEO and co-founder Forest Flager, these efficiencies have contributed to a tripling of Parspec´s company valuation since its seed round in March 2022 and accelerated the company´s revenue growth by four times over the past year.

Currently, Parspec serves 288 customers, a roster that includes four of the five largest electrical distributors and three of the five largest lighting agencies in the U.S. The latest investment arrives as construction material prices remain approximately 40% above 2020 levels, heightening the need for procurement efficiencies. Threshold Ventures partner Mo Islam pointed to Parspec’s proprietary materials dataset and fine-tuned generative artificial intelligence models as key differentiators, giving the startup a defensible competitive edge and the ability to automate the entire procurement workflow. The funding is especially notable given the broader downturn in real estate and construction tech funding since 2021, positioning Parspec’s artificial intelligence-native procurement platform as a timely solution for the trillion-dollar construction industry.
