NZXT launches N7 B850 Socket AM5 motherboard

NZXT introduced the N7 B850, a Socket AM5 motherboard available in all-black and two-tone trims featuring an AMD B850 chipset, 16+2+1 phase VRM with 80 A DrMOS, and support for DDR5-8000 memory. The board offers PCI-Express 5.0, multiple M.2 slots including two Gen 5 lanes, and native support for NZXT CAM monitoring and control.

NZXT announced the N7 B850 Socket AM5 motherboard in two trims: an all-black version and a two-tone white-and-black option. Both trims use black printed circuit boards, with the two-tone model applying a matte white finish across the front shrouding, the M.2 heatsink, the rear I/O shroud, and the VRM heatsinks. The board is built on the AMD B850 chipset, uses an 8-layer PCB with 2 oz copper layers, and draws power from a 24-pin ATX connector plus two 8-pin EPS connectors. NZXT specified a 16+2+1 phase CPU voltage regulator module with 80 A DrMOS on all phases.

The N7 B850 supports Socket AM5 processors and four DDR5 DIMM slots for up to 256 GB of memory at speeds up to DDR5-8000. For expansion it offers one PCI-Express 5.0 x16 slot and two M.2 NVMe Gen 5 slots. There is a third M.2 slot that runs at Gen 4 x4 speeds and is wired to the B850 FCH. The board includes two additional physical x16 slots that are electrically x4 and x1; the electrical x4 slot shares lanes with the third M.2 slot.

As with other NZXT motherboards, the N7 B850 supports the company’s NZXT CAM standard for PC real-time monitoring, fan control, and lighting control. The article does not state pricing or availability details. Images and a link to the original report were included with the announcement, but specifications beyond those listed here are not stated in the article.

SK Group warns DRAM shortages could curb memory use

SK Group chairman Chey Tae-won warned that customers may reduce memory consumption through infrastructure and software optimization if DRAM suppliers fail to raise output. Demand from Artificial Intelligence data centers is keeping the market tight as memory makers weigh expansion against the long timelines for new fabs.

BitUnlocker bypasses TPM-only Windows 11 BitLocker

Intrinsec disclosed BitUnlocker, a downgrade attack that can bypass TPM-only Windows 11 BitLocker protections with physical access to a machine. The technique abuses a flaw in Windows recovery and deployment components and relies on older trusted boot code.

Micron samples 256 GB DDR5 9200 MT/s RDIMM server modules

Micron has begun sampling 256 GB DDR5 RDIMM server modules built on its 1-gamma technology to key ecosystem partners. The company positions the new modules as a higher-speed, more power-efficient option for scaling next-generation Artificial Intelligence and HPC infrastructure.
