NetSuite 2025.1 enhances account setup with Prompt Studio and artificial intelligence preferences

NetSuite 2025.1 introduces Prompt Studio for managing generative artificial intelligence prompts and refines preferences and permissions for advanced analytics and messaging access.

NetSuite 2025.1 brings a suite of enhancements targeting account setup and maintenance, centering around expanded artificial intelligence operability, greater administrative control, and enhanced data accessibility. The most notable new feature is Prompt Studio, which enables administrators to create, manage, and audit generative artificial intelligence prompts as well as Text Enhance actions. With Prompt Studio, users can override system-defined prompts or set up new ones, attach actions to page contexts, view an audit log, and assign prompts for use in SuiteScript code through new methods in the N/llm module. The platform introduces two new SuiteCloud Development Framework objects—´prompt´ and ´textenhanceaction´—to encapsulate these resources programmatically. However, these features are restricted to accounts where generative artificial intelligence is supported.

The update refines artificial intelligence preferences with a consolidated settings page, empowering administrators to oversee Text Enhance, Prompt Studio, and SuiteScript capabilities in one location. Monthly free usage limits and consumption statistics are now displayed transparently for all three areas. A new toggle, ´Enable Text Enhance for External Users,´ allows granular security controls by letting only internal or specifically permitted external users access Text Enhance features by default. Reporting improvements separate and detail different usage types for SuiteScript actions, distinguishing text-to-vector embedding operations from text generation tasks, each with its own quota and historical usage metrics. The prior, separate Text Enhance Preferences page has been retired in favor of this centralized model.

On the permissions front, NetSuite introduces finer-grained control for analytics and system note access. The new ´System Notes for Analytics and REST´ permission means administrators can now delegate the capability to query all system notes through the analytics data source to other roles without elevating them to administrator status. Similarly, messaging data is secured yet accessible through the ´Messages for Analytics and REST´ permission, which, when paired with ´Track Messages,´ lets users query all messages through REST or analytics APIs, independent of authorship or recipient. These updates do not alter the visibility of messages or system notes in the NetSuite UI but widen data access for reporting and integration with external tools. Together, these enhancements strengthen NetSuite’s platform for organizations leveraging artificial intelligence-aided workflows, while giving administrators precise operational and security controls.
