Lenovo and Intel unveil ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable laptop with expandable screen

Lenovo and Intel launch a world-first rollable laptop, integrating an expandable screen and advanced Artificial Intelligence features.

Lenovo, in collaboration with Intel, has announced the release of the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable, introducing the world´s first rollable laptop display. The device is powered by an Intel Core Ultra processor and incorporates on-device Artificial Intelligence capabilities, including Microsoft Copilot+. Launching on June 19, the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable addresses the demand for larger, more flexible screen space without increasing the device´s physical footprint.

The innovative rollable display can vertically expand from 14 inches to 16.7 inches, activated either by a hand gesture or a button press. This expansion increases available screen space by nearly 50 percent. For professional users, this translates to notable productivity gains: for example, displaying 66 lines in a spreadsheet instead of 39, and allowing programmers to view more lines of code simultaneously. The laptop is also tailored to multitaskers and presenters, who can benefit from stacking dual 16:9 displays, facilitating enhanced workflow and presentation capabilities, especially when working on the go.

Apart from productivity applications, the rollable design also enhances the experience with content designed for vertical use, such as social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok. Lenovo and Intel´s co-engineered solution seeks to reduce the reliance on multiple monitors or excessive scrolling, providing a seamless transition between standard and expanded display modes. The integration of Artificial Intelligence and Microsoft´s Copilot+ further personalizes and streamlines user tasks, embedding advanced smart features directly into the device. The ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable represents a significant step forward in laptop flexibility and technological integration, reflecting both companies´ commitment to redefining the portable computing experience.

Intel unveils massive artificial intelligence processor test vehicle showcasing advanced packaging

Intel Foundry has revealed an experimental artificial intelligence chip test vehicle that uses an 8 reticle-sized package with multiple logic and memory tiles to demonstrate its latest manufacturing and packaging capabilities. The design highlights how Intel intends to build next-generation multi-chiplet artificial intelligence and high performance computing processors with advanced interconnects and power delivery.

Reward models inherit value biases from large language model foundations

New research shows that reward models used to align large language models inherit systematic value biases from their pre-trained foundations, with Llama and Gemma models diverging along agency and communion dimensions. The work raises fresh safety questions about treating base model choice as a purely technical performance decision in Artificial Intelligence alignment pipelines.
