Intel Arc B390 Panther Lake integrated graphics outperforms Radeon 890M on Linux

Intel's Panther Lake Arc B390 integrated graphics shows strong Linux performance, frequently surpassing AMD's Radeon 890M and previous Intel Core Ultra integrated solutions in gaming benchmarks.

Intel’s latest Arc B390 integrated graphics for Panther Lake is delivering strong results on Linux after earlier struggles for Intel Arc graphics on the platform. Testing of the Arc B390 inside an Intel Core Ultra X7 358H compared performance against AMD’s Radeon 890M integrated graphics in the AMD Ryzen Artificial Intelligence 9 HX 370, with Intel’s new integrated graphics consistently outperforming the Radeon solution. The Xe3 integrated graphics were evaluated in an MSI Prestige 14 laptop using Mesa 26.0 drivers on Linux Kernel version 6.19 on Ubuntu 26.04, highlighting a maturing software stack for Intel’s graphics on Linux.

In gaming benchmarks, the Xe3 integrated graphics lost to the AMD competition only in Counterstrike 2 at 1920×1200 and in Quake II RTX, while every other tested title saw the Intel Arc B390 come out on top. The Arc B390 beat both the AMD Radeon 890M and Intel’s earlier Core Ultra 7 155H and Core Ultra 7 258V integrated graphics by noticeable margins. Depending on the game and in-game settings, the Arc B390 was anywhere between 15% and upwards of 50%, illustrating a substantial uplift for integrated graphics performance under Linux in a wide range of scenarios.

Hitman 3 stood out as a showcase for the new integrated solution, with the B390 managing to get over 50% more FPS than the nearest competitor and 64% more FPS than the Radeon 890M at 1920×1200 and low settings. The same test configuration showed similar gains at medium quality settings, while performance improvements remained solid but slightly less pronounced at ultra settings. These results indicate that Intel’s Panther Lake Arc B390 integrated graphics can deliver competitive, and in many cases leading, gaming performance on Linux when paired with an up-to-date driver and kernel stack.
