Colorful debuts SMART 900 mini PC with flagship Ryzen AI Strix Halo APU

Colorful launches the SMART 900 mini PC, powered by AMD´s latest Ryzen AI Max+ 395, targeting the Artificial Intelligence small form factor market.

Colorful has introduced the SMART 900, a compact 4-liter mini PC, quietly bringing it to the Chinese market amid little fanfare from the company itself. While official channels and social media remain silent, the device came to light during Computex, where it was featured under the working name ´Mini AI PC.´ Now, press materials reveal this model is equipped with AMD´s flagship Ryzen AI Max+ 395 processor, leveraging the advanced Strix Halo mobile architecture. This platform includes 16 Zen 5 processor cores and integrated RDNA 3.5 graphics, optimizing it for demanding workloads in artificial intelligence and content creation.

The SMART 900´s launch positions Colorful among a select group of vendors offering mini PCs built around AMD´s most powerful Ryzen AI Max chips. Competing solutions from GMKtec and Zotac are also emerging, with GMKtec releasing the EVO-X2 globally last month and Zotac preparing its Magnus EA (2025) mini PC, the latter built around the 12-core Ryzen AI Max 390. In the US, Framework is likewise chasing this segment, planning to ship a 4.5-liter Mini-ITX desktop powered by AMD´s Strix Halo later in the year. The growing roster of compact, high-performance mini PCs clearly signals building momentum for artificial intelligence-ready desktop solutions in small packages.

Colorful´s SMART 900 sports a premium anodized aluminium chassis that doubles as a heat sink, with claimed efficient thermal dissipation to keep noise and temperatures in check during heavy loads. The company´s memory configuration stands out, adopting an uncommon 96 GB LPDDR5X setup, whereas competitors typically offer either 64 GB or 128 GB options. Despite showcasing robust engineering and cutting-edge silicon, Colorful has yet to announce pricing details for the SMART 900. The device remains a regional curiosity for now, yet it arrives as part of an intensifying race to equip mini PCs for artificial intelligence and high-performance computing in ultra-compact form factors.

Apple is expected to use Intel’s 18A-P process for M7 chips in MacBook models and Intel’s 14A process for A21 chips in iPhones. The shift points to a broader supplier strategy as Apple moves beyond TSMC for parts of its future silicon roadmap.

Google and other chatbots surface real phone numbers

Generative Artificial Intelligence chatbots are surfacing real phone numbers and other personal details, sometimes by pulling from obscure public sources and sometimes by inventing plausible but wrong contact information. Privacy experts say users have few reliable ways to find out whether their data is in model training sets or to force its removal.
