S&P Global and IBM announced a strategic alliance to embed IBM’s watsonx Orchestrate agentic framework into S&P Global’s products, beginning with supply chain management. The collaboration is intended to equip enterprises with Artificial Intelligence powered tools that tackle persistent supply chain challenges by improving insight and control. By uniting IBM’s orchestration technology with S&P Global’s data and analytics, the companies aim to streamline complex workflows and accelerate how organizations analyze risks and act on operational signals.
The initial supply chain offering is designed to enhance visibility and vendor selection by deploying Artificial Intelligence agents that draw on multiple S&P Global data domains, including procurement, trade, country and supplier risk. S&P Global will also create new agents for IBM’s watsonx Orchestrate Agent Catalog using its proprietary data, research and analytics to speed decision-making across supply chain tasks. Beyond supply chain, S&P Global plans to integrate IBM Artificial Intelligence technology with additional risk intelligence services in its Market Intelligence division.
Executives from both companies positioned agentic Artificial Intelligence as a way to convert data into action and improve operational performance. S&P Global’s leadership highlighted the potential to deliver more actionable insights and simplified workflows that support procurement strategies, risk management and informed decisions. IBM emphasized that agentic systems can help organizations manage increasingly complex, global supply chains and said the partnership will extend to other core business functions, including finance, procurement and insurance.
The supply chain initiative sits within S&P Global Market Intelligence’s Risk and Valuation Services portfolio, which combines differentiated data, valuations, analytics and expertise to help the market pinpoint risk exposures and create transparency. Supported by S&P Global’s Enterprise Data Organization, the company is producing Artificial Intelligence ready data to accelerate model development and deployment. The collaboration also aligns with S&P Global’s broader vision for agentic Artificial Intelligence, advanced through Kensho, its innovation hub focused on developing trusted Artificial Intelligence agents for enterprise use.
IBM describes watsonx Orchestrate as a single solution to coordinate Artificial Intelligence agents, assistants and workflows across business functions. In May, IBM introduced Agent Catalog, a central hub within watsonx Orchestrate that simplifies discovery of agents from IBM and partners, featuring more than 500 pre-built agents and tools. The companies noted that statements about future direction and intent represent goals and may change without notice.
