IBM and Oracle Expand Partnership to Enhance Agentic AI on Hybrid Cloud

IBM and Oracle partner to integrate watsonx Artificial Intelligence products into Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, driving advanced agentic AI and hybrid cloud solutions.

IBM is deepening its collaboration with Oracle to bring its watsonx portfolio of Artificial Intelligence products to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). This move leverages OCI´s native Artificial Intelligence capabilities, marking a significant development in the long-standing partnership between the two tech giants. The integration is designed to push forward multi-agent, Artificial Intelligence-driven productivity across enterprise environments, addressing growing enterprise demand for accessible and operational Artificial Intelligence solutions.

The partnership´s centerpiece is the planned availability of IBM´s watsonx Orchestrate AI agents on OCI beginning in July. This technology will enable enterprises to build and manage multi-agent, multi-system workflows that span both Oracle and non-Oracle applications and data sources. Watsonx Orchestrate will seamlessly integrate with Oracle´s AI Agent Studio for Fusion Applications, OCI Generative AI Agents, and other OCI Artificial Intelligence services. This expanded ecosystem broadens the applications of Oracle Fusion and supports third-party and custom application use cases, enhancing overall functionality and flexibility for enterprise IT environments.

The initial deployment focus is on human resources workflows, where IBM´s watsonx Orchestrate agents will perform Artificial Intelligence inferencing directly on OCI, aligning with how customers already host their data and applications. These agents will run on Red Hat OpenShift within various OCI environments—including public, sovereign, government, and Oracle Alloy regions—addressing customers´ regulatory and privacy requirements. Furthermore, the agents can be hosted on-premises or in multicloud setups, enabling enterprises to achieve true hybrid cloud capabilities. This joint initiative aims to simplify Artificial Intelligence adoption and management, optimize operational efficiency, and empower businesses to harness the full value of enterprise Artificial Intelligence.
