Argil raises €4.9 million for artificial intelligence video-generation platform

Argil closed a €4.9 million pre-seed and seed round to scale an Artificial Intelligence platform that creates life-like avatars and produces social videos in minutes.

Argil has closed a seed funding round totaling 4.9 million euros to back its artificial intelligence video-generation platform, according to a LinkedIn post from lead investor EQT Ventures on Nov. 27. The round combines pre-seed and seed capital and is intended to help the company expand a product that aims to let businesses, educators and creators produce videos quickly and at scale. The company positions its technology at the intersection of the creator economy and synthetic media, pitching speed and usability as core selling points.

The platform uses generative artificial intelligence to create life-like avatars and to generate social-ready videos in roughly two minutes, per Argil´s website. For videos that reproduce a real person, the workflow requires a two-minute source video, a short consent clip to verify identity, a voice recording and a script that can be typed or recorded. Users can pick camera angles, label and control the avatar´s body language, and apply edits; the firm offers free and paid tiers, with paid plans unlocking custom avatars, additional video minutes, advanced editing features and priority support.

EQT Ventures highlighted the startup´s timing and team in its announcement. ´Argil is perfectly positioned to benefit from two megatrends — Artificial Intelligence and the creator economy,´ EQT partner Ted Persson wrote in the post, noting the rapid adoption of synthetic media and praising the product´s integration of complex technology into a compact interface. The fundraising comes as several large platforms have rolled out or expanded their own video-generation offerings. TikTok has made its Symphony Creative Studio available to advertisers, Adobe added text-prompt video generation to its Firefly family, and Google piloted a Vids tool aimed at cutting production time and cost for businesses. That crowded and fast-moving landscape suggests Argil will compete on usability, trust and the ability to offer legally clear training data and usage rights as customers scale video production.
