Uber Freight is ramping up its investment in artificial intelligence, introducing a comprehensive suite of new features designed to help companies manage increasingly complex supply chain data. The logistics arm of Uber, which originally focused on connecting long-haul truckers with shippers, is now positioning itself as a leading technology provider for freight and supply chain operations through advanced analytics and artificial intelligence tools. Uber Freight´s AI-driven offerings, including their LLM-powered Insights AI, have been in quiet development since 2023 and are now available to shippers globally.
Colgate-Palmolive, a major client, piloted Insights AI as part of a broader initiative to make sense of the massive volumes of data generated during the COVID-19 pandemic. The company’s chief supply chain officer, Luciano Sieber, highlighted how Uber Freight´s platform allowed Colgate-Palmolive to quickly identify underperforming partners, enabling real-time interventions and cost savings. Uber Freight has now formally expanded Insights AI and introduced more than 30 artificial intelligence agents capable of automating key logistics tasks, setting itself apart from competitors like Flexport and various startups also racing to modernize supply chains using artificial intelligence.
Lior Ron, founder of Uber Freight, underscored that the logistics sector is inherently data-rich and that artificial intelligence is essential for extracting actionable insights at scale. After an initial period of development that faced typical large language model challenges, Uber Freight reports its tools now achieve 98% accuracy. Users can make complex queries — like identifying specific shipping patterns or cost outliers — and receive instant, transparent analyses. The platform also proactively alerts clients when they are overpaying for freight or when better routes become available. While the immediate savings may seem minor, the cumulative impact across an entire network can be significant, earning praise from financial decision-makers like Colgate-Palmolive´s CFO. This marks a major step forward for Uber Freight, as it leverages years of logistics experience and relationships to offer an intelligence platform that aims to directly impact operational efficiency and the bottom line for shippers worldwide.
