NVIDIA launches large language model blueprint to automate telecom network configuration

NVIDIA introduces a large language model blueprint designed to automate telecom network configuration, promising significant cost savings and operational efficiency through Artificial Intelligence.

Telecom operators manage vast, complex networks that require constant configuration adjustments to handle activities such as call transfers and traffic distribution. Traditionally, these tasks have relied on manual efforts or inflexible, rules-based automation, fueling high operational expenditures and slowing responsiveness. In response, NVIDIA announced its AI Blueprint for telco network configuration during the GTC Paris event, aiming to modernize and automate these processes across the industry.

Central to the blueprint is the deployment of large language models (LLMs) tailored to the telecommunications domain, enabling goal-driven, autonomous Artificial Intelligence agents. By integrating these agents with organizational infrastructure, telcos can automate real-time optimization of network parameters—balancing speed, signal quality, energy consumption, and traffic demands without human intervention. The blueprint includes reference code, documentation, and deployment tools using NVIDIA NIM microservices, streamlining development and reducing technical barriers for network specialists.

Pioneering deployments include Telenor Group, which serves over 200 million customers globally and is the first to implement NVIDIA’s LLM Blueprint to drive its autonomous network strategy for 5G. Other partners such as NTT DATA, Tata Consultancy Services, Prodapt, Accenture, and Infosys showcased new agentic platforms leveraging NVIDIA´s accelerated computing ecosystem, with applications ranging from network anomaly detection and incident management to distributed inference and fault resolution. Collectively, these solutions aim to cut operational costs by up to 40% and reduce fault resolution times by about 30%, marking a significant leap toward fully automated, adaptive telecom networks.

The new slate of NVIDIA-powered initiatives reflects broader momentum in the telecom industry to embrace Artificial Intelligence-driven autonomy. Industry leaders are utilizing NVIDIA platforms to deliver network orchestration, rapid diagnostics, performance optimization, and continuous adaptability. As telecom networks worldwide move to 5G and edge-cloud architectures, NVIDIA´s blueprint and ecosystem provide a flexible, scalable foundation for operators seeking to maximize efficiency, improve customer experience, and future-proof their infrastructure.
