NITDA and NIPR praised Image Merchants Promotion (IMPR) for pioneering the use of Artificial Intelligence in public relations and highlighted the technology’s potential to boost Nigeria’s digital economy and innovation.

The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) formally commended Image Merchants Promotion (IMPR) Limited at the 3rd Economic Confidential Public Lecture and PRNigeria book presentation in Abuja. The commendation was delivered by NITDA director-general Kashifu Inuwa and NIPR president Dr. Ike Neliaku in an event attended by policymakers, academics, security officials, public relations practitioners, and digital experts. Speakers noted IMPR’s annual lecture series and publications as part of the agency’s contribution to national intellectual growth and professional development.

Director-general Inuwa described IMPR’s use of Artificial Intelligence across audience analysis, media monitoring, content automation, event management, and crisis detection, and framed the technology as an opportunity for Nigeria to accelerate development. He cited estimates presented at the event that automation could manage up to 30% of economic activities and potentially raise GDP growth by 20%. Inuwa also outlined federal digital transformation initiatives, including the national Artificial Intelligence strategy, restructuring of the national centre for AI and robotics, and support for more than 45 startups under the Nigeria AI Research Scheme, with collaborations involving Google and Nigerian universities.

Speakers from NIPR and IMPR highlighted the practical outputs of the lecture series, including the launch of three new books and ongoing talent development. Dr. Afolabi Olajuwon described IMPR as a multi-award-winning agency that advances vision and innovation, while Dr. Sule Yau Sule and Yushau A. Shuaib emphasized staff contributions to authorship and the growing role of Artificial Intelligence in journalism and communications. The event also announced the second edition of the PRNigeria Young Communication Fellowship and presented four Economic Confidential Personalities of the Year awards to national leaders. Organizers positioned these initiatives as steps toward strengthening dialogue on economic reform, digital transformation, and professional excellence in public relations.
