UK and Australia sign Artificial Intelligence security memorandum

The UK and Australia have agreed to deepen cooperation on Artificial Intelligence security and safety through a new memorandum between their respective institutes. The partnership focuses on frontier systems, cyber risks, research sharing, and testing practices.

On May 25, 2026, the UK government announced a new Memorandum of Understanding between the UK Artificial Intelligence Security Institute and the Australian Artificial Intelligence Safety Institute aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation on artificial intelligence security and safety.

Under the MoU, the two institutes will cooperate on frontier Artificial Intelligence, defined as the most advanced systems at the cutting edge of current capabilities, by sharing information on emerging capabilities and risks, exchanging research on safety and security issues, and developing best practices for testing and evaluation. The partnership will also address the cybersecurity implications of these systems, including their potential use in cyber attacks as well as their capacity to strengthen cyber defenses, and is expected to include staff exchanges to support closer collaboration.

The agreement is framed as part of a broader effort by both governments to work with trusted international partners as Artificial Intelligence systems become more capable and the associated risk landscape evolves. It also reflects a growing emphasis on cross-border coordination in the development of methodologies for evaluating advanced Artificial Intelligence models and establishing practical approaches to Artificial Intelligence assurance and governance.

The UK government also linked the partnership to recent research from the UK Artificial Intelligence Security Institute, indicating that advanced Artificial Intelligence systems are making rapid progress in their ability to conduct complex cyber-related tasks. That research, according to the government press release, highlights the need for continued work on Artificial Intelligence risk assessment and on measures designed to protect businesses, critical infrastructure, and the public from misuse of the technology.

Artificial Intelligence gains ground at Le Mans

Artificial Intelligence tools are moving from back-office aids into design, preparation and race strategy at Le Mans. Teams still face confidentiality barriers before feeding sensitive performance data into external systems.

AMD opens Ryzen Artificial Intelligence Halo mini PC pre-orders

AMD’s Strix Halo-powered developer platform is now listed for pre-order through Micro Center in the US. The compact kit targets Artificial Intelligence developers with a shared-memory Ryzen Artificial Intelligence Max+ platform and Linux or Windows options.

Great American Artificial Intelligence Act targets frontier model developers

The Great American Artificial Intelligence Act would create new obligations mainly for frontier model developers, while leaving many deployment risks for everyday business users intact. Companies using commercial tools would still face state-law, fraud, workforce, privacy, and governance exposure under existing frameworks.
