Texas Instruments plans record-breaking investment across seven US semiconductor fabs

Texas Instruments unveils its largest-ever investment to expand US semiconductor manufacturing, targeting critical technology markets from vehicles to data centers and supporting over 60,000 jobs.

Texas Instruments has announced an ambitious plan to invest more than an unspecified multi-billion dollar sum in seven semiconductor fabrication facilities across the United States, marking what the company describes as the largest investment in foundational semiconductor manufacturing in the nation´s history. This move is being made in collaboration with the Trump administration, further building on Texas Instruments´ near-century-long legacy in electronics innovation and manufacturing.

The expansion centers on the creation and scaling of new mega-sites in Texas and Utah, which, according to the company, will collectively support more than 60,000 jobs within the United States. This substantial workforce expansion signals TI´s intent to respond to the surging demand for semiconductors crucial to emerging and transformative technologies—from automotive systems and smartphones to data center infrastructure.

Haviv Ilan, president and CEO of Texas Instruments, underscored the strategic significance of the investment, noting that TI is focused on delivering high-volume, reliable, and cost-effective 300 mm semiconductor wafer manufacturing. These facilities will enhance production of analog and embedded processing chips essential to almost every modern electronic system. Citing partnerships with industry leaders such as Apple, Ford, Medtronic, NVIDIA, and SpaceX, Ilan emphasized TI´s role in advancing American innovation alongside government support by ensuring the country leads the way in technology manufacturing and supply chain resilience.
