Synaptics Incorporated has expanded its Veros wireless portfolio with the introduction of its first Wi-Fi 7 systems-on-chips (SoCs), the SYN4390 and SYN4384, specifically engineered for the Internet of Things (IoT) ecosystem. These new SoCs offer scalable bandwidths up to 320 MHz, reaching peak speeds of 5.8 Gbps and supporting ultra-low latency. The triple-combo solutions combine Wi-Fi 7 with Bluetooth 6.0 and Zigbee/Thread capabilities, while also supporting Matter, the interoperability standard for smart devices. Synaptics designed these SoCs to lower overall system cost and power consumption, directly addressing demands for reliable long-range performance in advanced IoT applications.
The SYN4390 and SYN4384 are aimed at a diverse range of use cases, including 8K video streaming, interactive gaming, security monitoring, immersive AR/VR experiences, and both home and automotive entertainment systems. By integrating multiple wireless protocols, the chips target seamless connectivity and interoperability, which are crucial for the next generation of connected devices. Their suitability for data-intensive and real-time applications is underscored by their ability to maintain robust connections even in challenging network environments.
A key feature of Synaptics´ Wi-Fi 7 implementation is multi-link operation (MLO), enabling devices to transmit and receive data streams over multiple frequency bands—2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz—at the same time. This ensures low latency and high throughput requirements are met for applications like video calls and real-time gaming. According to Synaptics, its architectural approach makes it possible to deliver MLO benefits with improved power efficiency and reduced cost, facilitating wider adoption of advanced wireless technology across IoT deployments.
