Intel has introduced its intel core ultra series 3 processors at CES as the first artificial intelligence PC platform built on intel 18A process technology that was designed and manufactured in the United States. The company says the series 3 family will power over 200 designs from leading global partners, which is intended to make it the most broadly adopted and globally available artificial intelligence PC platform Intel has delivered so far. This launch is framed as a major process node milestone and a volume push for artificial intelligence capable laptops through a single mobile platform.
Within the intel core ultra series 3 mobile lineup, Intel is adding a new class of intel core ultra X9 and X7 processors that integrate its highest performing intel arc graphics. These parts are aimed at multitaskers and users who regularly handle demanding workloads such as gaming, content creation and productivity while mobile. By pairing the processor with more powerful integrated graphics, Intel is positioning these chips as suitable for users who want discrete class visual performance without adding a separate graphics card.
The top SKUs feature up to 16 CPU cores, 12 Xe -cores and 50 NPU TOPS, delivering up to 60% better multithread performance over 77% faster gaming performance and up to 27 hours of battery life. Intel presents these figures as evidence that the new series can handle heavy parallel workloads, graphics intensive applications and on device artificial intelligence tasks while still prioritizing battery longevity. Together, the process technology shift to intel 18A, the focus on integrated arc graphics and the dedicated neural processing unit are meant to define the core ultra series 3 as Intel’s flagship mobile artificial intelligence platform for upcoming notebook designs.
