Google has opened Google Vids to anyone with a Google account. The Artificial Intelligence-powered video creation tool now lets free users generate up to 10 high-quality video clips each month using Veo 3.1. Google Artificial Intelligence Pro and Ultra subscribers get custom music generation via Lyria 3, as well as customizable Artificial Intelligence avatars and increased limits: Pro subscribers get 50 videos per month, while Artificial Intelligence Ultra subscribers get up to 1,000 video generations per month.
The launch broadens Google’s push into video creation and positions Google Vids as a direct challenger to Adobe and other video editing platforms. Free Artificial Intelligence video generation with Google’s latest models puts professional-grade tools in the hands of regular Gmail users. A new Chrome extension for screen recording and direct YouTube publishing extends that offering into a fuller workflow inside Google’s ecosystem.
Making Veo 3.1 available at no cost removes a barrier that often slows adoption of Artificial Intelligence video tools. Ten generations per month covers many casual users, while the paid tiers are aimed at heavier creators and businesses. Paid subscribers also gain access to Lyria 3 music generation, adding soundtrack creation to video production and giving Google a more complete concept-to-distribution toolset within a single platform.
The change also increases pressure on Adobe, Canva, and Artificial Intelligence video startups charging $30+/month for similar capabilities. Google can use free access to strengthen engagement across its broader services, including YouTube, Drive, and Workspace. That strategy aligns with growing demand for fast-turnaround short-form video for LinkedIn, Instagram Reels, TikTok, and corporate training, while reducing the need for Workspace users to evaluate separate video products.
