IQM to Deliver 300-Qubit Quantum Computer to Finland

IQM Quantum Computers is set to deliver advanced 150- and 300-qubit quantum systems to Finland, enhancing quantum research and integration with national supercomputing resources.

IQM Quantum Computers has signed a significant agreement with VTT Technical Research Centre in Finland to deliver new high-capacity quantum computers, specifically a 150-qubit system and an advanced 300-qubit system. Scheduled for delivery in 2026 and 2027 respectively, these quantum computers will be integrated with Finland´s high-performance computing (HPC) infrastructure, establishing a sophisticated backbone for quantum research and development in the country.

The 300-qubit quantum computer is custom-designed to facilitate experiments in quantum error correction, a critical step toward building fault-tolerant quantum computing platforms. This system will also support algorithm development for innovative techniques such as circuit knitting, positioning Finland to stay at the forefront of quantum algorithm research and practical quantum applications.

IQM has an established track record with VTT, having previously delivered 5-qubit, 20-qubit, and 50-qubit systems, each representing important milestones for Finland´s quantum ecosystem. The new agreement not only reflects the maturation of quantum technologies but also underscores the continued investment into research infrastructure that supports the expanding needs of the scientific community. Altogether, this partnership solidifies Finland´s role as a key player in the European quantum computing landscape and advances the global pursuit of reliable, scalable quantum solutions.
