IMA launches dedicated Artificial Intelligence centres for pharma innovation

IMA introduces two new hubs—IMA AI LAB and Embedded Data Machines—to drive Artificial Intelligence integration across pharma manufacturing and technical solutions.

IMA has unveiled two specialized centres of expertise within its organization, named the IMA AI LAB and Embedded Data Machines, in a move designed to consolidate and accelerate the adoption of Artificial Intelligence throughout its operations. These new entities are tasked with integrating intelligent functionalities directly into machines and manufacturing plants, enhancing data collection and analysis, and spearheading the creation of predictive algorithms as well as advanced technical support tools. The company has emphasized a strong focus on next-generation troubleshooting capabilities, aiming to deploy intelligent systems that can predict, diagnose, and resolve operational anomalies rapidly and accurately.

The decision to formalize these centres follows a period in which IMA had implemented scattered initiatives involving Artificial Intelligence, now purposefully unified for greater strategic impact. The expanded remit also enhances current efforts in customer training and the development of digital twins—powerful simulation tools that allow technical and operational environments to be modeled and explored in virtual space for enhanced learning and optimization. By structurally embedding these initiatives, IMA positions itself at the forefront of digital transformation in pharmaceutical manufacturing, ensuring a deeper and more effective deployment of Artificial Intelligence technologies.

Dario Rea, IMA Group´s director of research and innovation, articulated the company’s philosophy regarding the responsible use of Artificial Intelligence, stressing that it should serve work processes and add value without complicating workflows. The initiative is characterized by a deliberate orientation towards practical applications including connectivity, automation, troubleshooting, and training, always with a focus on utility, transparency, and responsibility.
