ORLEN Group has announced an ambitious partnership with Microsoft to implement what is described as the largest artificial intelligence transformation initiative in Central Europe. As part of its 2035 strategy aiming for energy security and efficient, affordable energy supply throughout the region, ORLEN will leverage advanced digital tools to drive change not only in its core energy business but also in areas such as cybersecurity, production processes, and workforce efficiency. The multi-year investment program, valued at up to 380 billion PLN, underscores a commitment to harnessing technology for increased competitiveness and operational excellence.
The rollout will introduce Microsoft Copilot and multi-agent artificial intelligence solutions across ORLEN´s diverse operations spanning over 200 companies in more than a dozen countries. By automating repetitive administrative tasks and enhancing data analysis capabilities, these tools are expected to boost productivity and allow the company’s more than 60,000 employees to focus on higher-value work. Standardization and consolidation of software licenses, adoption of advanced cloud technologies, and deployment of intelligent assistants will further streamline management and elevate cybersecurity standards throughout the organization. The broad scope includes tasks such as supply logistics, regulatory analysis, controlling, and strategic market data evaluation, as well as more technical domains like website design.
A core element of the cooperative agreement is the creation of a Competence Center for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Innovation, and Advanced Analytics within ORLEN. This new internal incubator will nurture innovation by supporting project development, experimentation with generative artificial intelligence technologies, and rapid implementation of proven concepts. The partnership involves not only technology rollout but also a sustained focus on workforce development through structured training for IT specialists and data scientists. Workshops and joint analyses between Microsoft and ORLEN will deepen expertise and optimize the practical use of artificial intelligence within the company, positioning ORLEN as a leader in digital transformation in the energy sector.
