SK hynix and NVIDIA partner on memory for Artificial Intelligence factories

SK hynix and NVIDIA announced a multi-year technology partnership focused on next-generation memory for Artificial Intelligence factories. The companies will also apply Artificial Intelligence to semiconductor design and manufacturing.

SK hynix Inc. and NVIDIA announced a multi-year technology partnership aimed at advancing next-generation memory for the global Artificial Intelligence factory buildout. The collaboration is also intended to accelerate semiconductor design and manufacturing, positioning memory development as a central part of expanding Artificial Intelligence infrastructure.

The agreement builds on years of deep co-engineering collaboration between the companies. That work has supported some of the world’s most advanced Artificial Intelligence computing platforms, according to the announcement. The new partnership formalizes a broader effort to continue developing memory technologies suited to large-scale Artificial Intelligence systems and the infrastructure needed to run them.

Chey Tae-won, Chairman of SK Group, said SK hynix and NVIDIA have been building toward the partnership for years and that the agreement reflects the depth of their collaboration. He said the companies are co-developing the next generation of memory for Artificial Intelligence factories and applying Artificial Intelligence to how semiconductors are designed and manufactured.

The partnership links two priorities in the semiconductor industry: improving memory for Artificial Intelligence computing platforms and using Artificial Intelligence within chip development and production workflows. SK hynix and NVIDIA described the work as a step that will shape the future of Artificial Intelligence infrastructure, with next-generation memory and manufacturing processes both included in the scope of the collaboration.
